you know November is here when Jones puts this shit out in droves.

I’ve had some horrible things, but I can’t even stomach the idea of drinking this.

the only reason to drink this soda is to be able to say you have had the worst shit in your mouth. i swear i couldn’t even swallow one sip (thats what she said).

If you haven’t had bacon vodka, then you haven’t had the worst shit in your mouth.

(Chuck Bukowski)

sometimes you climb out of bed in the morning and you think,
I’m not going to make it, but you laugh inside
remembering all the times you’ve felt that way, and
you walk to the bathroom , do your toilet, see that face
in the mirror, oh my oh my oh my, but you comb your hair anyway,
get into your street clothes, feed the cats, fetch the newspaper of horror, place it on the coffee table, kiss your wife goodbye, and then you are backing the car out into life itself,
like millions of others you enter the arena once more.

you are on the freeway threading through traffic now,
moving both towards something and towards nothing at all as you punch
the radio on and get Mozart, which is something, and you will somehow
get through the slow days and the busy days and the dull
days and the hateful days and the rare days, all both so delightful
and so disappointing because
we are all so alike and so different.

you find the turn-off, drive through the most dangerous
part of town, feel momentarily wonderful as Mozart works
his way into your brain and slides down along your bones and
out through your shoes.

it’s been a tough fight worth fighting
as we all drive along
betting on another day.

We Were Promised Jetpacks - It’s Thunder and It’s Lightning

I guess We Were Promised Jetpacks only has one really good song, but it’s a really good song. If you know anything about modern day Scotland, it’s probably not surprising that some of today’s better emo comes out of there. In the end, WWPJ is just a lesser Twilight Sad, but if that’s something that matters to you, you’re probably stupid. This song hits all the right emo notes. It’s quiet then loud. It’s slow then fast. It’s kind of vague, but almost too obvious. Emo is a game of juxtaposition and if you’ve got a practiced hand, you can really make some masterpieces. Shit hits its pinnacle with the wonderful full-loud final chorus, then unfortunately peters out into a bunch of shit no one even cares about. Nevertheless, a modern emo classic.
